about

2 Mikes played together in a really cool band. Then everything changed. To make way for the 'next big thing', we - and many others like us - were forced from the stages of clubs, ballrooms and bowling alleys. Abandoned and unloved, we unwittingly became orphans of the discotheque.

With nowhere else to go, we decided to make a recording studio.

So – we got a tape recorder.
Then we got a bunch of other stuff and hooked it all up in whatever basement, assorted bedroom, living room, porch, garage, tool shed or storage locker was available. A 4-track. An 8-track. And finally, two inches/16 tracks of meaty, analog deliciousness at 30ips. 2 Mikes decided to make a record.

So - we wrote some songs.
We explored such timeless subject matter as ‘walking’ and ‘talking’ in the ‘park’ after ‘dark’ with ‘my love’ (somehow, inexplicably) ‘sent from above’. We utilized the always reliable ‘words that end in …t-i-o-n’ rhyming scheme. Eventually, we got a couple we liked.

So – we recorded some songs.
NOTE: For a more complete and enjoyable listening experience, 2 Mikes respectfully suggests you turn it up really loud and regard any/all audible anomalies included in this recording via an extremely diverse range of technical protocol as ‘ear candy’. Hey, it’s possible that we meant to do that.

And, that’s the 2 Mikes In Racin’ Wagon deal.
We wrote some songs and we recorded some songs and we made this record and...
Time stands still.

Legend has it that some of these so-called ‘Orphans of the Discotheque’ continue to roam the world in search of the last remaining Drink & Sink promotion. ... more
